How it all began

Wayne started off riding a mini moto at Lydd race track in October 2005 when Paul Arter and his son Luke got him a mini moto bike to see how he'd take to it. At the same time a man called Vic Underwood who lived nearby and his son were heavily into the racing and as the two families became friends, they all travelled together to see what the fuss was about.

Vic watched Wayne practice and noticed he had talent, it wasn't long before he asked Paul if he could buy Wayne a £1000 mini moto bike and let him race. This is where Wayne Ryan's career was to start and he impressed from the moment go with many top five finishes in the 4.2 class and proddy's.
Wayne then joined a team called racetech and raced well with them until the end of his full first season in 2006 before being approached by Phoenix Racing who wanted Wayne to ride on a 50cc Conti in 2007.
Wayne was most impressive and won the majority of all races entered, his talent was clear for all to see and were it not for the odd bike blow up and three missed rounds, the young man from Lydd could have gone on to win his first Championship, only to end up as runner-up by just a few points. Without the help of Phoenix Racing, Wayne would not be where he is now and with the help of Trevor from Havoc Racing who let Wayne race in mini moto's also in the 2007 season, Wayne now had the craft for bigger and better things at just eleven years old.

In 2008 Paul and his family decided to enter Wayne into the famous Aprilia Superteen Championship with the series Thundersport GB.
With Wayne not being twelve until May, they were made to miss the opening two rounds until Cadwell Park where his full road racing career began.
Along with some handy sponsors that were picked up in the form of: Lion Security, Havoc Racing, Kasper and Paul Arter & Son Builders, Wayne climbed aboard the 125cc Aprilia and was about to surprise many people in the paddock, not least his 40 strong competitors.

Finishing eighth in his first race, Wayne went on to win race two and smash the record books as the youngest ever winner of a superteen race at just twelve years and two weeks old, and then went on to complete another two podium finishes and let everyone know who he was and what his intentions were.
Following this Wayne went on to never qualify outside the top eight all year long, he picked up a stack of podium finishes, plenty of silverware and another couple of astonishing wins at Donington and Mallory Park.

Despite not attending four rounds of the season due to lack of funding and a BMX injury, Wayne completed his first year with a fifth place finish overall and would have easily been a top three contender had he attended all races.
He is a racer, a natural born talent, a future star in the making and a strong favourite to take next years title provided Paul and his family can attain much needed sponsorship.
